'FIRE ON THE SEA' is a visionary journey in the form of a novel. Through the medium of an exciting story, it reveals the Illusion and our part in it, and how we can become free.

'You are not helpless creations," said Ozira. "You are not souls in bodies needing to be redeemed by higher powers which exist outside yourself. You are not even the bodies you inhabit, although so often you believe in this limitation along with all the other falsely created ideas and ideals that you cannot see or move outside the walls you build around your lives.

'If you choose to believe in manufactured ideals and mental concepts, then you deny yourself the right to exist without freedom from outside control. When the source of your understanding is not the Light - not from the flow of Light that is in you and is you, then your understanding is useless, to you and to the Earth. Worse, such understandings which come from the twisted minds of those who believe in illusion - and this includes your own mind - can actually damage your existence and the life of the Earth.

'The Earth is a huge, mighty organism - a being of tremendous power and beauty, with its own consciousness - and it can take its own steps to recover balance, and it possesses the added strength of all its wonderful natural forms. The forms of men and women are just as wonderful as the rest and are as much a part of Nature's expression as anything else on this planet. However, you have so distanced your consciousness from even your body's mother - the Earth - that you cause much damage to your body, and this is called illness or disease.

'There should be no disease. What you are in actuality is Light, and that Light Consciousness moves straight from the Source of All to this Earth. It projects here for a purpose, and its purpose is to give Itself to all that It enters and to experience the multifarious joys of all Creation. If the Light moved through your ego unimpeded, then your body would be living in perfect joy also. There would be no disease.

'However, your ego acts to cloud and distort the flow of Light. The ego has been so blinded for so long that it can see only a constant reflection of itself, as it is sunken into the mire of manufactured beliefs. And this reflection it considers as the truth of its being. It is not; it is only an altered reality, and since there are so many ego experiences with so many different realities, little wonder that the human world is fraught with chaos!'

'You can do nothing for another except BE your essential self. No one changes anything by trying to make over or rule or control, or by attacking or exerting against the thing one wishes to change. Blindly, you think you must seek to change the world, when all you need to do is change yourself. This is a concept well known even in the illusory world; at least it is often proclaimed and espoused. But without real understanding.

'Changing means re-orienting. The illusory world is unmistakably there outside, and you cannot go like a hermit into a forest and hide from it and pretend that it does not exist. Well, you can try to hide and deny... you can become a hermit if you like. However, you will shortly discover that the illusory world never left you, for it lives inside your mind just as strongly as elsewhere. To change means to turn completely from this illusion, but the process is not denial or a 'turning away'; it is, rather, a 'turning to'. That is, one turns to one's Light, because that is all one desires. You recognize that you are Light first and foremost, that there is nothing else but Light. You align your consciousness at last with what you are and you become your Light. This then is all you can give to others - the beautiful, magnificent glory of your Light. Is that not enough for this world?

'Know that you are Light. As Light, you are everything the Earth needs; it needs no pompous gods or great masters, or saviours from beyond. All it needs is your Light - YOU.

'Be the Love which you feel in your heart for all the wonder which is outside and inside you. If you think you cannot find any love within you, then seek to discover why. Realize that the hurts you experience which cause you to deny love, are the hurts of your ego, which has always told itself that it is very special and better than anybody else and, therefore, it gets very pained when others do not treat it with the respect it thinks it deserves. Remember how I spoke of the myriad of realities created in this world by the many experiences of ego? Your present ego reality is not the same as another's, so other people do not see you as you see yourself. In fact, you are lucky if they even see you at all, since their own egos are so busily introspective and narcissistic that they see only what they want to see - the distorted image of themselves bent in the mirror of illusion.

'Can you understand this? Pain is something your ego creates, like a picture in that distorted mirror. Others seem to give you pain. They appear to attack you. But what is it that feels so pained? It is not your Light - your true Being, for nothing illusory can touch that.'

Through all the darkening and brightening of the storm, Faran read on. She felt her heart and mind opening themselves within the flow of the words, as a lotus pushes itself up through the gentle water to take its place in the sun, petals unfurled, to show its beauty to the earth and to give and receive sustenance. All this had been inside her, she knew, and was only waiting for its release. She thought then of the things Rezia had said, and saw by that how the healing of her heart and the realization of love for her daughter would also become, in time, the release of her Light. If only Rezia could read this, she thought. If only the whole world could read it!

'It isn't enough to acknowledge feelings,' the words of Ozira said. 'You must let yourself feel them, right to their core, then to see what desires are bringing them about. Thinking about feeling is what most people do when they say they are feeling something, but they are only letting their heads dictate an idea or a concept of what, according to their intellect, should be appropriate at the time. So many people live within the intellectual spaces of their minds that the world is cluttered with realities that bear no relation to the actuality of the Earth or its bodies or the beings who inhabit them. The world is full of cold, feelingless realities - just witness them in the brutal acts of world violence, which are countenanced and given a thousand cold-blooded excuses for their existence. True feeling is spurned and given the name of "sentiment" to lessen its meaning and impact, so that "reasonable" things can be done, callous and brutal as they are, in the name of this or that god, or of good government, or to protect a people, or to "better" human life, and so on.'

'It is your ego which blames you constantly for all the wrong things it says you have done. You have done nothing wrong; you have just lived your life in the way that you understood it. If it appears to you now that you made mistakes, that you judged yourself and others where love and compassion would have served better, then only rejoice that you do see it. Apportion no blame; do not call yourself a fool - you are not a fool. You are the Light and you exist in Light, only now you are learning to Live it also.'
